Encinitas Balinese Escape

A Balinese theme was requested for this Encinitas “outdoor room’, by the homeowner and life-long surfer. Attention to detail and planting helped to achieve these goals while providing a large, inviting gathering space in a small space environment. Existing mature perimeter palms enhanced the new barbecue and fire pit/pedestal table, bringing warmth, light, and a sense of intimate gathering into the space. Bamboo detailed posts on the custom-made umbrella cover, barbecue and pedestal inlays as well as stylish, dynamic lines of the umbrella cover enhance an airy feel to the compact space. The clients’ existing statuary and pottery were highlighted to add to the tropical feel of the space. The change in the existing yard has welcomed both large gatherings of friends and business associates, as well as small get-togethers with family. A comfortable and welcoming setting for all!!!

Granite countertop surrounding stool height lava rock firepit, brings warmth to an intimate setting. Sheet metal & bamboo umbrella holds this firepit’s warmth and provides intimate shelter from the elements.

Coiled rope detail binds bamboo encased cover support enhancing the island feel of the outdoor space. Geometrically cut stepping stones lead from randomly cut patio area to more structured part of yard. The Laughing Buddah brings wealth, good fortune, and prosperity to the welcoming ambience.

Inlaid bamboo backsplash detail uses indigenous Balinese materials to augment the island styled comfort.

Smooth texture and sweeping forms in umbrella cover and granite counter tops give this covered outdoor kitchen an airy, inviting presence in the tropical-themed landscape.
